Reliving the Historic Battle of Valcour

Email share

As the United States celebrates 250 years since its founding, many people across the country have seized the opportunity to reflect on the major struggles and sacrifices that helped shape our republic.  Some historians call the Battle of Valcour one of the most significant naval battles of the American Revolution.

On October 11th, a live reenactment of the historic Battle of Valcour took place on Lake Champlain exactly 250 years after the original engagement occurred.  Retired music teacher Craig Russell of Morrisonville, New York, served as the official Battle of Valcour Reenactment Coordinator. He speaks with our Community Contributor Ryan Lee about events that attracted history buffs and others to the shores of Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York.
