Each July, residents of Plattsburgh, New York, celebrate the North Country’s most famous culinary specialty: the Michigan hot dog. July is known locally as Michigan Month. It’s a time to reflect on, and more specifically, a time to eat, a hot dog covered in a spicy or sweet meat sauce, known by a name of mysterious origins: the Michigan.
The celebration continues in August, when you’ll find Michigans of all varieties at Michigan Fest in Clinton County. This marks the second year for the festival.
Our community contributor, Anna Channel, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Dannemora Federal Credit Union, speaks with Shelby Engelhardt, Marketing Manager at UFirst Federal Credit Union. Together, they are helping organize the event as co-chairs of the Michigan Fest Committee.
