Faces of the North Country

In a gallery filled with familiar faces, members of the Plattsburgh community are seeing themselves and their neighbors through the eyes of artists.

The Strand Center for the Arts’ current exhibit, “Portraits of a Community,” features five local artists using different mediums to create portraits of community members.

The artists are Shaun O’Connell, who works with colored pencil; Naomi Bradshaw, who uses charcoal; Kaitlyn Jubert, who works in graphite; Cynthia Root, who uses watercolor and acrylic; and June Levenson, who works in oil.

For the artists, the exhibit is a way to highlight forty people you might see in your neighborhood, while showing how different mediums can change the way a portrait is presented.
