Description:
Like many successful landscapes, this image was a fortunate coincidence of timing between the photographer and Mother Nature. It was taken on the frozen surface of Middle Saranac Lake on a morning in February, 2004. I had noticed the scene while canoeing the summer before and returned months later, when the ice provided a stable platform for my camera and tripod."

Artist Bio:
Barry Lobdell's artistic philosophy: My ambition is to interpret as best I can, the emotions and ideas that my surroundings inspire in me, particularly in that place where natural and cultural landscapes converge. The challenge of using light to advantage and involving it in composition of some meaning makes each outing with the camera an adventure. The successful moments, when all the elements are right and the visual connection is made cannot be explained with words; only a photograph can begin to share the experience. My hope if that the viewer of my work senses some of the same wonder that compelled me to pause with the camera. Barry Lobdell's awards, artistic achievements and gallery affiliations are an extensive testimonial to his talents. Barry has recently added 'Exposed Art' in Albany, NY to his extensive list of gallery affiliations.
