Mountain Lake PBS presents Rustic Living, a television series that demonstrates how to live simple or elegant using what nature has provided when put in the hands of great craftspeople.
Throughout the Adirondack Park, you will find historical remnants from the very beginnings of the “Adirondack Style. This region is where the wealthy city dwellers spent their summer vacations living harmoniously with nature in their Adirondack Great Camps.
The Adirondack Style can be traced back to as early as 1870 when its architecture and furniture was simple, designed to withstand the elements and provide comfort to its inhabitants by utilizing local natural materials. Later in the early 1900's the style began including eclectic pieces from the orient when travelers brought back deep colored and textured furnishings to spice up their wooded collections.
Even today in the 21st century, the “Rustic Style” as we lovingly call it is still very much alive locally, nationally and abroad. Thanks to skilled architects, local artisans, interior decorators and regional historians, the Adirondacks continue to be at theforefront of the ever-popular rustic movement.
Join award-winning Producers Derek Muirden and Aubrey Bresett as they search for style, elegance and originality and introduce you to some of the most talented architects, unique artisans, fearless interior designers and fascinating homeowners that work and play in the Adirondack Style BUT chose to live by their own rustic rules!
Mountain Lake PBS presents Rustic Living on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m, with repeat airings Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. and Mondays at 12:00 p.m.
