Roadside Recipes is a fascinating and personal guide to some of the more interesting and unusual restaurants of the Adirondacks as well as a celebration of the people who keep the soup hot, the bread fresh and the desserts sinful. Derek and Paul were careful in planning this program to include a variety of cuisines as well as locations and prices.
Producer Derek Muirden and Videographer Paul Frederick have been working on the popular Mountain Lake PBS series People Near Here for the past three years. The series has kept Derek and Paul on the road throughout the Adirondack Region, meeting dozens of fascinating people. In their travels, they have occasion to sample some of the region’s most interesting roadside fare from among the myriad of restaurants, lodges and diners which dot the Adirondack landscape.
In Roadside Recipes, Derek and Paul share some of their favorite places, from roadside diners to the fanciest places, from fast (but good) food to places where most of the evening can be spent just reading the wine list. Certainly, it's impossible to get all the great places to eat in the Adirondacks into just one show, so Derek and Paul visit some of their favorite eateries. Then, they give a tour of the restaurant before introducing us to the menu and then the chef. Finally, they will sample some of their favorite dishes from each locale.
