What is Imagine Yourself Reading?
The Mountain Lake PBS Imagine Yourself Reading program is a localized cloning of a successful national PBS program called Ready to Learn. The goals focus on preparing children for a successful Kindergarten experience as well as attainment of on-grade-level reading performance by grade three.
Our mantra is ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ABLE TO READ BY GRADE THREE!

- Stressing the importance of early learning for future language acquisition
- Providing training to parents to be their child’s first teacher
- Teaching research based reading practices to parents
- Providing techniques for effective read-alouds
- Utilizing television to teach literacy skills and the importance of educational programming
- Providing support materials and a free book for parents
- Encouraging the use of multi-media to teach reading skills
- Providing ideas for using activities that children enjoy to increase motivation
