Editor/ Videographer Level 1
Summary of Job: Primary responsibility is creative video editing and creation of broadcast graphics for projects that include rapid turn-around, short and long-form non-fiction television for broadcast and other purposes. Also responsible for studio and field sound engineering and operating a variety of studio TV production equipment in the production of live and taped broadcasts.
- Act as creative lead editor on weekly public affairs series and on stand-alone documentaries, programs and video segments designed for broadcast, web, mobile video and other uses.
- Create original broadcast graphics and effects for edited programs, promotional spots, title sequences, teases, etc. Also integrate pre-existing graphics, elements, artwork and images into programs.
- Share responsibility with project lead producers, and team members for successfully completing projects on time and within budgets.
- Perform principle photography with professional high-definition ENG/EFP video and sound equipment. On other occasions responsible for second camera acquisition of material in the field and studio.
- Display ability to rapidly and effectively light studio and field locations in manner consistent with program style sheets and producer/director expectations.
- Take the lead in performing and supervising studio and field audio engineering including use of wired and wireless microphones, studio mixers, and multi-channel audio recording equipment.
- Operate other studio control room equipment including teleprompter, audio and graphics interface, video decks, monitors and other as needed.
- Operate studio video switcher and/or act as director for studio recording and live broadcasts.
- Other duties as required.
The following qualifications are needed to perform this job successfully:
- Ability to use creativity and innovation to enhance productions editorially and with original broadcast graphics.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and coordinate other editors in compiling weekly public affairs programming.
- Ability to record top-quality audio in interview, studio and field production.
- Excellent knowledge of television production techniques, including studio and location production and recording..
- Detail oriented with an eye for visual and audio presentation in talent, sets and studio.
- Organized with strong written, visual and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Training: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or 3-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work-Related Experience: 5 year post college experience in television related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Training: degree in a television-related field and
Work-Related Experience: 5+ years as a editor/sound engineer at an established television station or production facility. Final Cut Pro and Photoshop editing ability. Studio production experience. Familiarity with professional audio engineering equipment and techniques.
Required certification\registrations or licensure
Valid US driver’s license with good driving record.
Physical requirements
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
SALARY RANGE: $24,000 – $29,000
